Surrey Leagues

My club plays other clubs in a doubles tournament organised by the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) for clubs affiliated to them. In our case we are affiliated to the Surrey LTA.

The teams are divided up into leagues of five teams and you play competitively against four other clubs. The objective is of course to win enough points – through – winning matches to win promotion to a higher league.

My club is represented by men’s women’s and mixed teams. In the past I played for one of our men’s teams and this year have been able to create a new team because it was felt we had enough men capable of playing at the required standard.

Playing in the Surrey’s is good because you get the chance to play against unfamiliar opponents and also get the chance to play on other surfaces. Both of these things but in particular playing against unfamiliar opponents improve your game. Mr Backhand.
