Cortisone or not?

Well here I am writing my first post for a while and guess what over three months after I first did it I am still injured.

Trying to hit a forehand in reply to a ground stroke way I felt a very sharp pain close to the outside of my elbow and immediately dropped my racquet.

Since then I have been to two different physiotherapists the latter of whom is also into acupuncture. Because of this I have so far managed a total of six needles in the arm but alas last week for the second time in my recovery the arm has just blown up again.

The physio’s think that I damaged the ligaments around the radial bone (apparently this helps you to rotate your wrist) and that I also mangled the muscle near there as well.

They contend that when healing what’s happened is that the nerve around the radial has somehow become mixed up (I’m sure that’s not the right medical term) with ligament and thus if i strain the ligament too much it will hurt.

My GP (doctor) on the other hand suggests that I take a Cortisone injection to calm the whole problem down.

My concern is that the arm has broken down twice now following physio meaning that I am not so confident in that treatment.  On the other hand I could take the Cortisone injection and that might appear to work without really solving the problem.

Either way I’ll let you know what happens. Mr BH
